SENIOR ACTUARIAL ADVISOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Within RBA Financial Group, the Retirement office administers two defined benefit pension plans in which about a hundred First Nations employers are members. The incumbent participates in the administration of these plans, provides expertise related to his or her field of activity and helps establish and maintain an organizational culture oriented towards collaboration and satisfaction of client needs. In all circumstances, he or she acts with tact and diplomacy.

MAIN TASKS

  • Verify benefit calculations produced by advisors of previous levels (termination, retirement, buy-back, payment, etc.).
  • Perform and/or verify more complex benefit calculations (transfer agreement, partition of benefits after marriage breakdown, death benefits, etc.).
  • Inform members about their pension plan and their benefit calculations (customer service calls, emails, and virtual meetings).
  • Participate in the annual validation of participation data.
  • Follow up on ongoing member’s requests.
  • Proceed with the monthly reconciliation of annuities in payment.
  • Maintain and update certain work tools.
  • Participate in various recurring projects such as the production of annual statements, the audit, and the annual verification of annuities in payment.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial sciences, in mathematics or in a related field.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in pension plan’s administration.
  • Excellent knowledge of French and English.
  • Prepared to travel on an occasionally basis.
  • Ability to communicate and simplify complicated concepts.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.

  • The gross annual salary for this position is between $86,940 and $119,490 and varies according to the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills.
