PROGRAMMER ANALYST

The Native Benefits Plan (NBP) is an Indigenous organization that seeks to be a benchmark in pension fund management and an expert in fringe benefits for First Nations of Quebec. Since its establishment in 1979, the NBP has focused on improving the financial independence of First Nations members.

ROLE

The job holder, under the Information Technology Director, is responsible for developing, improving and upkeeping the organization’s computer system. They conceive and implement technological solutions adapted to the users’ needs and offer a technical support system to employees.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The programmer analyst is a versatile professional that combines programming and problem solving to create and upkeep computing solutions adapted to the organization’s needs.

They act with transparency, honesty and integrity at all times. They understand that their exchanges, access to documents or information regarding the NBP, its clients, suppliers and employees must stay CONFIDENTIAL.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Functional and technological analysis to identify the needs of users;
  • Recommend and design solutions amid constraints (technology, budget, delays)
  • Develop applications and implement new features;
  • Ensure the quality of the code and, if necessary, take part in reviewing the team’s work;
  • Run the tests, identify anomalies and address the problems (“bugs”);
  • Maintain the existing systems (corrective and evolutional);
  • Optimize the performance of applications and update them;
  • Establish technical documentation (guides, specifications, procedures);
  • Offer technical support to users and take part in resolving incidents.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or other related fields;
  • Great knowledge of one computer analysis method ;
  • Five years of relevent experience as programmer analyst, with speciality in programming dynamic WEB interfaces;
  • Great knowledge of Web development related languages (Javascript, C#., Net, Typescript, etc.);
  • Good knowledge of relational databases (SQL, TSQL);
  • Master written and spoken French.

OTHER COMPENSATION

  • Participation in a defined benefit pension plan.

  • The gross annual salary for this position is between $72,709 and $99,954. The positioning varies depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications and skills;

TECHNICAL SKILLS

To be able to do adequate work, the jobholder must have the following skills:

  • Ability to analyse existing systems;
  • Ability to identify and correct mistakes in the code;
  • Master the relevant programming languages.

HIRING PRIORITY

Based on the required qualifications, the NBP prioritizes hiring and promoting First Nations and Inuit employees. The priority will then be extended to non-native employees, First Nations and Inuit members outside of the organization, and then to the general population.
